Alpine affections
Sun, ski, snow… and women? Citypink are going on tour to France’s premier ski resort and you’re invited!
Imagine coming in chilly and exhausted from an invigorating ski across flawless white snow to enjoy a steaming hot espresso, surrounded by like-minded, gorgeous women…
In March next year, the lucky ladies of Citypink will descend on the village of Val Claret in Tignes, to coincide with the European Gay Ski Week (EGSW) celebrations there. Perfect timing! The holiday is a chance to meet members of the gay community from across Europe, and even indulge in a romantic fling or establish a connection that will blossom into a beautiful friendship.
Tignes is France’s hottest ski destination (or perhaps its coolest!) offering Europe’s most snow-sure slopes in the shadow of the breathtaking Grand Motte Glacier. Tignes’ slopes reach for the skies with vertigo-inducing highs of 3,450m. This ice giant is home to L’Espace Killy, which is one of the best Alpine ski areas in Europe. Named after the French Olympic gold medalist skier, Jeane-Claude Killy, L’Espace Killy has nearly 100 high-speed lifts so queuing is rare.
The white-knuckle slopes and huge variety of outdoor activities, such as dog sledding, ice climbing, skating, snowboarding or snowshoeing, will keep thrill-seekers occupied for hours, while those can’t-ski-wont-ski individuals can conquer their first-time fears at professional ski classes. Citypink are organising group lessons for their clients, taught by EGSW instructors to ensure a relaxed and friendly learning environment for all. Pupils are taught in groups of similar ability, so riotous fun is guaranteed.
Every day at lunchtime there is a mountain restaurant terrace exclusive to EGSW, where you can take a luxurious break from the slopes, hang out with friends and just chill over a lengthy and delicious lunch. The Mid Mountain Dance Terrace at Le Boulin is also the place to whet your appetites for the Après Ski extravaganza, which is about to kick off in the village. From late afternoon, the DJs will be spinning, the dancers dancing and performers performing in an effort to get the party started.
An event pass grants you entrance to all of EGSW’s and Citypink’s parties, some in collaboration with Primanotte, a Parisian lesbian group, at the devilish women-only Rum bar. If you are looking to experience something a bit different from the British gay scene, this is your opportunity to mix with new and interesting women, and really experience that joie de vivre.
In terms of accomodation for your stay, there is something to suit all budgets and tastes. The EGSW has taken over a whole hotel and there is the Slalom girls-only residence, equipped with the aforementioned Rum bar. Alternatively there are other choices away from this maddening crowd.
