NEWS>> Death Squads in Murdering Gays
A campaign is underway to force the Government to investigate claims that coalition forces aren’t protecting Iraqi gays from death squads.

The gay magazine 3SIXTY has set up a website www.stopgaymurder.org to collect an e-mail petition to support a call by Brighton’s Labour MP David Lepper for an investigation. He has written to the Foreign Secretary Jack Straw over the news of the Iraqi death squads targeting gay men.

The death squads are being run by Iraq's Badr Corps trained and commanded by former Iraqi army officers. The victims are kidnapped, bound, beaten and shot in the head.

It follows a lethal ruling against all lesbian and gay people in the country by the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani of Iraq. The order, called a 'fatwa', instructs loyal followers to kill as many gays as possible in the "worst, most severe way".

“These gays men and women are living in absolute terror,” says David Harvey of 3SIXTY magazine. “Reports show that when gays ask the coalition forces to help they are met with indifference.”

“The Foreign Office must take these allegations seriously and I want to see an investigation,” says Mr MP David Lepper. “The UK should take a lead in persuading the government of Iraq and the coalition to join that investigation.”

The human rights group Outrage! has set up a support group in the UK.

Imagine going to bed not knowing if the death squads are coming for you?
Imagine living in absolute fear of not seeing a new dawn?
Force our Government to investigate.
Stop the death squads in Iraq.
